Next entry from Adam’s Diary (translated from Adam’s original hieroglyphics by Mark Twain) …
SATURDAY — The new creature eats too much fruit. We are going to run short, most likely. “We” again — that is ITS word; mine, too, now, from hearing it so much. Good deal of fog this morning. I do not go out in the fog myself. This new creature does. It goes out in all weathers, and stumps right in with its muddy feet. And talks. It used to be so pleasant and quiet here.
“We” in Eve’s parlance is totally accurate, and the real Adam would not have objected at all.
For when Yahweh brought Eve to Adam, Adam himself said, “This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh. She shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.”
Yahweh’s own commentary was, “For this cause a man shall leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.” (Genesis 2:22-24)
“We” is a weak reflection of the full-orbed husband-wife union ordained by Yahweh and experienced by Adam and Eve prior to the entrance of sin into their world. It’s much more than just “we“.
The secret to experience such union is given by the Apostle Paul. Husbands are to love and honor their wives and wives are to obey and respect their husbands. (Ephesians 5:22-33)
An early excerpt from Eve’s Diary, also by Mark Twain, is:
I love to talk; I talk, all day, and in my sleep, too, and I am very interesting, but if I had another to talk to I could be twice as interesting, and would never stop, if desired.
Much humor is built on the difference between male and female approaches to talking, but talking is an essential tool for building marital union. I’m sure Adam enjoyed talking at great length with Eve.

Woolly Bears and the Problem of Pain.
Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body. But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her; that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she should be holy and blameless. So husbands ought also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself; for no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ also does the church, because we are members of His body. FOR THIS CAUSE A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER, AND SHALL CLEAVE TO HIS WIFE; AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH. This mystery is great; but I am speaking with reference to Christ and the church. Nevertheless let each individual among you also love his own wife even as himself; and let the wife see to it that she respect her husband. (Ephesians 5:22-33)
