Adoration of the Shepherds
He who holds the universe together
humbled Himself to be born as a man.
(By Italian Guido Reni, 1575–1642)
Who would ever think of sending a Baby to save the world from evil, sin, and death?
The Baby entered through a birth canal with the usual accompanying blood and birth fluids. He started life in an animal feeding trough. There was no antiseptic hospital, no pediatric nurses, no skilled obstetrician, no anesthetist in attendance. The parents were poor with no insurance.
Would you start a superhero on His mission to save the world this way?
But that is exactly what the Great Creator did on the occasion we celebrate every year at Christmas. His thoughts are not our thoughts and His ways are not our ways, and He is rich in mercy and love toward us (Isaiah 55:8-9; Ephesians 2:4).
It’s time for my annual Christmas Quiz reminding us all of the One who was born to die. Below are 12 questions about Christmas with most of them about the first Christmas. Answers with comments will appear in next week’s blog post,
2020 Christmas Quiz Answers.
Try the quiz first without using the Bible or referring to my Christmas Events Harmonization which is a harmonization of the Gospel passages reporting the birth of Jesus Christ.
