String of Pearls

(2 Minute Read. 22Jun2022)

In the early dawn hours before sunrise, a string of pearls will stretch across the Great Creator‘s night sky.

In June, a parade of planets will appear shortly before dawn. The spectacle will be centered on June 24 and will be visible for about a week before and after. Five bright planets will be appear in their natural order from the sun. Along with the moon, they will be aligned in a long arc along the southeastern horizon.

Start with Mercury in the east just above the horizon and head south to Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn to see the five pearls with your naked eye. Uranus and Neptune are also in the string past Saturn, but you will need binoculars to see them.

The moon traverses the planetary string day by day. On June 24 the crescent moon will appear between Venus and Mars.

If in the string you include Earth, which you can see by looking down past your feet, this string includes eight planets and the moon. Start about an hour before sunrise for the best view.

Order in the Sky

How were astronomers able to report the occurrence of this string of pearls in advance? How were they sure it would occur?

The answer is that it is because the Great Creator faithfully sustains His creation in an orderly manner. He made it all, and He is responsible for its predictable order and preservation.
Of old You founded the earth, and the heavens are the work of Your hands.
(Psalm 102:25)
You alone are the Lord. You have made the heavens, the heaven of heavens with all their host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to all of them and the heavenly host bows down before You.
(Nehemiah 9:6)
He [Christ] is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. (Hebrews 1:3)

But one day the Great Creator will interrupt this beautiful order in the sky to execute judgment.
But by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men. (2 Peter 3:7)

Questions to Ponder

1. Do you daily thank the Great Creator for the orderliness of His creation?
2. Do you see the glory of the Great Creator in the heavens?
(Psalm 19:1)
