2006.11 Should the President Pardon Turkeys?

Turkeys patrolling a campground

Article Summary:
Never! Turkeys should be stuffed with chestnut and raisin dressing, succulently roasted, and served with cranberry sauce. Pardons are for people, not turkeys. The President should eat those turkeys with gusto—and thank God for his own pardon.

Know that the LORD Himself is God;
It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
Enter His gates with thanksgiving,
And His courts with praise.
Give thanks to Him; bless His name.
For the LORD is good;
His lovingkindness is everlasting,
And His faithfulness to all generations.
(Psalms 100:3-5)
